PSYKHE
The Role
We are looking for an experienced UX Researcher to join us on a contract basis — someone who treats research as a discipline, not a formality. Our clients are banks, financial institutions, and public sector agencies with senior stakeholders in the room, and they expect research that has been designed with intent: clear hypotheses, defensible methodology, and findings that hold up under scrutiny.
This is not a role for light-touch validation squeezed in between design sprints. You will own research end-to-end, from framing the right questions and designing the methodology, through fieldwork, to synthesis and stakeholder-ready findings, across concept testing, user testing, usability testing, and market research.
You will be embedded across client engagements, taking ownership of research outcomes and contributing to the growth of our research practice. This role sits at the intersection of methodology, stakeholder management, and craft.
Your Responsibilities
Research Strategy & Design
Design end-to-end research studies, concept testing, usability testing, moderated and unmoderated user testing, and market research, selecting the right method for the right question, not the fastest one
Write research plans and discussion guides that hold up to stakeholder and client scrutiny
Define sampling strategy, recruitment criteria, and study design appropriate to the research question
Execution & Fieldwork
Lead qualitative and quantitative research studies, and know when each is appropriate
Conduct interviews, usability sessions, and testing across in-person and remote formats
Facilitate co-creation and research workshops with clients and cross-functional teams
Synthesis & Insight Delivery
Synthesise findings into clear, decision-ready insights — not just a summary of what was said, but what it means for the product or service
Translate research insights into problem definitions, opportunity maps, and design principles
Maintain research documentation and contribute to the organisation's research repository
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Present findings directly to senior client stakeholders, including in banking and government settings
Manage stakeholder relationships with confidence — this is a core part of the role, not a side skill
Articulate and defend methodological choices clearly, both verbally and in writing
You Are A rigorous, methodical researcher who treats research design as seriously as the findings it produces.
Deeply grounded in formal research methodology — you design studies with intent, not convenience
Confident managing stakeholders — you can hold your ground with senior, non-design audiences
Comfortable with both qualitative and quantitative research, and know when each is appropriate
Commercially aware — you connect research findings to business outcomes and client goals
A strong communicator — your findings are clear, structured, and easy to act on
Collaborative by nature — you work closely with designers, strategists, and delivery teams
Composed under scrutiny — you can defend your methodology when it's challenged

Domain & Context
Experience conducting research in financial services, banking, or public sector environments is a strong plus, given the regulatory and stakeholder context of our client base
