Job Description

About the Role

Nearly Human is an SBIR Phase III company that helps federal agencies move AI out of isolated pilots and into secure, governed, mission-ready use through our LaunchGrid platform. We have an established product successfully sold to our first federal client, and we are looking for a hands-on federal growth operator to help our CEO expand this existing account and grow our public-sector sales motion into other areas of the government. You will not be starting from scratch; we have an active pipeline with warm leads on new contracts that you will immediately help navigate and close. This is a founding role, and as our sales motion matures, so will your ownership of it.

What You'll Do

Own CRM and opportunity tracking, including clean pipeline reporting on progress and revenue tied to each opportunity.Expand our current federal client account and leverage provided warm leads to secure new government contracts.Research target agencies and program offices, support outbound prospecting, and help qualify opportunities.Prepare briefs ahead of client and partner meetings.Coordinate with BD partners and prime contractors, helping shape opportunity-specific value propositions and capture strategy.Support proposals, quotes, and procurement-related language.Stay current on federal AI policy, procurement trends, and competitive activity.Grow into owning smaller opportunities directly as you build a track record and trust.

What We're Looking For

Mandatory: Real federal sales or federal contracting experience, including at least one deal you've personally helped close in the last 12 months. You don't need to be a closer on day one, but you should have been part of a win before.Working knowledge of federal contracting fundamentals: FAR, contract vehicles (IDIQs, BPAs, OTAs), and how SBIR/SBIR Phase III pathways work.Sharp research and organizational instincts to keep opportunities, contacts, and next steps from falling through the cracks.Comfortable with ambiguity and building process from scratch rather than working inside an established playbook.Strong written communication for meeting briefs, follow-up, and proposal support.A self-starter who wants to grow into a bigger ownership role as the function matures.

Compensation & Location

Location: Local to the Washington, D.C. area. Your ability to attend in-person meetings, agency visits, and industry events as opportunities require is essential.Compensation: $80,000–$110,000 base, plus commission and equity.

Our Hiring Process

15-Minute Initial Screen to discuss your recent sales metrics and strategy.30-Minute Second Round with leadership.Final Round Interview for a select shortlist of top candidates.

How to Apply

Send your resume to lauren.truett@nearlyhuman-gs.com. Important: In your email, please include a brief note on a federal sale you helped close in the last 12 months.
