Overview of The Role

The Power BI Developer is a business‑focused analytics role responsible for partnering closely with business teams to design, deliver and sustain insightful Power BI dashboards and reports. This role acts as a bridge between business users and the enterprise analytics platform, ensuring business questions are translated into clear, accurate, and performant analytical solutions.

The Power BI Developer plays a critical role in driving data‑driven decision‑making, enabling self‑service analytics, and providing hands‑on guidance and support to business users working with Power BI in a governed enterprise environment.

This role is also expected to actively leverage AI, Copilot, and automation capabilities to accelerate Power BI development, improve productivity, and enhance analytical experiences. The candidate should continuously explore and adopt emerging Power BI and Microsoft Fabric capabilities, modern development techniques, and AI-driven approaches to deliver solutions faster and more effectively.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand business processes, KPIs, and decision needs, translating them into effective Power BI dashboards and reportsDesign, build, and deliver Power BI reports and dashboards that translate business requirements into actionable insightsEngineer high‑quality semantic models (datasets) optimized for performance, reusability, and enterprise reportingOwn Power BI development standards, including data modeling, DAX patterns, visual design, and usability best practicesPartner with Data Engineering teams to consume curated Lakehouse and Fabric data assetsDevelop optimized DAX measures and calculations to support complex analytical requirementsEnforce dimensional modeling best practices within Power BI semantic modelsOwn report performance tuning, including model optimization, query reduction, and visual efficiencyValidate data accuracy and consistency across reports, dashboards, and semantic modelsSupport and resolve production issues, including data discrepancies, refresh failures, and performance degradationDrive user adoption by delivering intuitive, well‑designed analytical experiencesDocument report logic, data definitions, and business rules to ensure transparency and reuseExposure in Power BI related AI & Automation toolset (Copilot in Power BI/DAX, Fabric Data Agents, Copilot Studio, Smart Narratives, Key Influencers Visual).Coach and support business users on Power BI usage, self‑service analytics, and best practicesDocument data definitions, assumptions, and report logic in business‑friendly language
Supervision

Operates independently while aligning to enterprise BI strategy and standardsWorks closely with Data Engineers, architects, platform admin, governance and business SMEs throughout the analytics lifecycleSupports multiple concurrent reporting initiatives in a fast‑paced enterprise environmentCommunicates clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholdersYou Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have the Following Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, or equivalent experience3+ years of hands‑on experience developing enterprise Power BI solutionsStrong experience with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, with a solid understanding of modern Azure analytics services and exposure to other enterprise analytics tools in the marketStrong foundation in:Data modeling and semantic layer designAnalytical reporting and dashboardingBusiness intelligence and data visualizationExpertise in advance modeling techniques using tabular editor and DAX studioExperience in maintaining language translations – Meta data translation and data translationExperience working in governed enterprise BI environmentsExperience working with SAP data and business processes (nice to have)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work across multiple business domains and stakeholdersUp‑to‑date knowledge of Power BI features, performance optimization techniques, and industry best practices
Technical Requirements

Advanced Power BI development experience, including:Semantic model (dataset) engineeringAdvanced DAX development and optimizationM Query for data transformationReport and dashboard design following UX best practicesStrong understanding of dimensional data modeling (Kimball / star schema)Strong SQL skills for data validation and analysisExperience working with Microsoft Fabric components:Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse (as a consumer)Fabric SQL endpointsFabric Dataflows / Data Factory (consumption and understanding)Fabric Apps (nice to have)Experience with Power BI Service administration:Workspace managementSecurity (RLS/CLS, object‑level security)Capacity awareness and optimizationFamiliarity with DevOps / GitHub for version control and deploymentUnderstanding of data governance, security, and lifecycle management in Power BIPBI AI & Automation (Recommended):Copilot in Power BI/DAXFabric Data AgentsCopilot StudioSmart NarrativesKey Influencers Visual
