Position Overview:

The Legal Counsel provides corporate and commercial legal support to Canada Goose both domestically and in a global scope. The primary responsibility of the position is drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts. In addition, the successful candidate will attend to all legal needs of the company in a variety of subject matter as they arise. The Legal Counsel will work with departments throughout the business to assist in drafting and negotiation as well as managing risk. The position involves a broad and evolving scope of responsibility.

What You'll Do:Support the General Counsel in dealing with business-critical issues relating to commercial lawAssist drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide variety of client and vendor contractsManage international legal matters as Canada Goose continues its international expansionIndependently address day-to-day commercial work, providing hands‑on legal support to the different areas of the businessManage the needs of internal clients independently and being assertive regarding managing risk where appropriateBecome the legal lead in several subject matters within the business including servicing internal teams and negotiation with external partiesWork in collaboration with cross‑functional teams to manage and mitigate riskLitigation and claims management in the relevant subject matterDevelop and implement procedures for contract management and contract administrationManage legal spending in areas of responsibilityPlay a crucial role in the coaching, training, and support of internal clients and colleaguesParticipate in various projects as neededLet's Talk About You:Law degree from an accredited Canadian law schoolMember in good standing of the Law Society of Upper CanadaBusiness‑savvy attorney with 2-4 years of commercial law experience at a major law firm and in‑house experience with a major corporationStrong experience with drafting and negotiating contractsExperience with intellectual property is a plusExperience in an organization with international operations and scopeExposure to a broad range of legal practice experienceKnowledge, Skills and Attributes:Ability to maintain an efficient balance between legal considerations and business needsStrong business acumen and the ability to provide business oriented legal adviceInnovative and resourceful with a strong sense of corporate awarenessHave the confidence to make quick decisions and provide strategic adviceProven ability to effectively handle challenging situations in a time sensitive environmentAbility to explain complex legal issues in simple and succinct termsInitiative and ability to work independently with minimal directionExceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills; approachable demeanorEnjoys the challenges of a dynamic and entrepreneurial environmentStrong organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects with competing priorities and deadlinesStrong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to speak authoritativelyAbility to inspire confidenceWhat's in it For You?A company built on Canadian roots and heritage

Salary Range:

$140,000.00 - $166,000.00 / year
