SEO Optimization Specialist

Job Summary

Smart Marketing is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented SEO Specialist to join our growing team! This paid position is ideal for someone with a strong background in search engine optimization, website management, and digital marketing who enjoys helping businesses improve their online visibility and performance.The SEO Specialist will independently manage approximately 5–10 client accounts, overseeing ongoing SEO strategies, website optimization, technical improvements, and performance reporting. This role requires at least five years of professional SEO experience, a solid understanding of WordPress and analytics tools, and the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.You'll work closely with our marketing team to maintain and improve client websites, identify opportunities for growth, and support the success of businesses across a variety of industries.

Responsibilities

Manage ongoing SEO strategies and website optimization for approximately 5–10 client accounts, ensuring monthly deliverables and website updates are completed accurately and on schedule.
Conduct keyword research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for improved search engine rankings, organic traffic, and online visibility.
Optimize existing website content, title tags, meta descriptions, headers, internal links, image alt text, and other on-page SEO elements.
Perform monthly website updates in WordPress, including page edits, content revisions, metadata updates, and general website maintenance.
Monitor Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and other SEO tools to track keyword rankings, organic traffic, website performance, and user behavior.
Assist with Google Tag Manager implementation and management, including tracking tags, conversion events, and measurement setup.
Develop and implement Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) strategies to improve client visibility in AI-powered search results, featured snippets, and conversational search platforms.
Conduct routine technical SEO audits to identify indexing issues, broken links, crawl errors, redirect issues, and other optimization opportunities.
Implement structured data and schema markup to support search engine understanding and improve search visibility.
Manage local SEO initiatives, including Google Business Profile updates, local keyword optimization, and location-specific website improvements.
Prepare monthly SEO reports outlining account performance, completed tasks, key metrics, and recommended next steps.
Collaborate with content, social media, and design teams to ensure SEO efforts align with broader client marketing strategies.
Stay informed about Google algorithm updates, AI search developments, and evolving SEO and AEO best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

5+ years of professional experience in SEO, digital marketing, or website optimization.
Strong understanding of SEO strategy, keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO, and local SEO.
Experience with WordPress and website content management, including ongoing website updates and optimization.
Proficiency in Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager.
Working knowledge of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), structured data, schema markup, and strategies for improving visibility in AI-powered search results.
Experience with SEO tools such as Yoast SEO, Semrush, BrightLocal, and similar platforms.
Ability to analyze website performance data, identify optimization opportunities, and make data-driven recommendations.
Ability to independently manage multiple client accounts, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain consistent monthly deliverables.
Strong writing, editing, communication, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Familiarity with HTML and CSS for website troubleshooting and optimization is a plus.
